Mission
The surgical intensive care unit has 24 postoperative intensive care beds for cardiac surgery. Clients treated at this unit have had coronary bypass surgery, valve replacements, heart transplants, aortic surgery, or a ventricular assist device implantation. They mainly come from the Surgery Unit and return there upon discharge from intensive care. The unit works in collaboration with a dedicated pain management team.
