The Clinical Nutrition Service provides clinical nutrition therapy for patients admitted to the care units, patients in the Emergency Department, and patients seen at the heart failure, diabetes, transplant and anticoagulotherapy outpatient clinics.
Nutritionists evaluate the nutritional status of the patient, determine a nutritional treatment plan, determine the nutrition way, evaluate swallowing and make education for patients and different groups of professionals at the Montreal Heart Institute.
In the units, dietary technicians visit patients to learn about their food preferences, allergies and aversions based on available menus, which they adapt depending on the nutrition therapy required throughout the patient's stay at the Montreal Heart Institute.
