COVID-19 - IMPORTANT INFORMATION

March 18, 2020

In order to lower the epidemic curve and to protect its staff and customers, the ICM is implementing exceptional and temporary measures.

Visitors: On March 14, 2020, in order to protect the most vulnerable, the Government of Quebec announced the suspension of visits to all hospital centers.

EPIC Center: The EPIC Center suspends its sports activities and its secondary prevention and diabetes clinics from March 13, 2020.

External, specialized clinics : All patients will receive a call before the scheduled date of their appointment. A maximum of appointments will be transformed into telephone appointments.

Clinical services (Diagnostic examinations) : All patients will receive a call before the scheduled date of their appointment and non-emergency examinations will be canceled and postponed.

Access to the Institute: As a preventive measure, the Montreal Heart Institute exercises increased control over entry and exit. All visitors and users should use the main entrance located near the visitors parking lot north of rue Saint-Zotique. The entrance to the Viau Street Research Center, which leads directly to the Sampling Center, is temporarily closed. It should also be noted that only patients who consult the emergency department will be able to transit through the emergency entrance on Bélanger Street. No visitor will be allowed to travel by emergency.

We also remind you that if you have a cough or fever, you must inform us as soon as you arrive and ideally postpone your visit if possible.

For all questions related to Coronavirus / Covid-19, it is recommended that the public call the number 1-877-645-4545.

Infosanté 811:  In recent days, the Info-Santé 811 line has experienced unusual response times due to the large number of calls, which means that all the lines are busy. Colossal efforts are being made to improve the situation at 811. An increase in the number of nurses answering calls is also being evaluated as well as the development of shortened training to allow less experienced nurses to reach 811 quickly.

Thank you for your collaboration.
