The Grand Bal des Vins-Coeurs of the Montreal Heart Institute Foundation raises a record sum of $2,850,000

2013, September 5, 2013

Close to 800 guests gathered on September 5, at Windsor Station’s Salle des pas perdus, for the 13th Grand Bal des Vins-Coeurs organized by the Montreal Heart Institute Foundation. During this gala evening, the Foundation presented its prestigious Medal of Honour to Rémi Marcoux, C.M., O.Q., F.C.A., founder and board member of TC Transcontinental, for his generosity, involvement, and dedication to the Foundation. Guests were also treated to a unique performance by the Cirque du Soleil—a delightful tribute to the Foundation’s most recent honouree.

$2,850,000 for the Montreal Heart Institute
Henri-Paul Rousseau, Chair of the Montreal Heart Institute Foundation’s Board of Directors, proudly declared: “With the support of our faithful partners, the SAQ and the Cirque du Soleil, our many sponsors and donors, the Grand Bal des Vins-Coeurs enabled the Foundation to raise a record sum of $2,850,000 to support the innovative and priority projects of the Montreal Heart Institute.”

The fundraising event raised $1,670,000 in cash donations; as announced at the gala, the Foundation will also receive an additional $1,180,000 from major donors over the course of the next several years.

Under its honorary presidents Véronique Cloutier, television host and businesswoman; Maestro Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Orchestre Métropolitain; and Serge Savard, Thibault, Messier, Savard & Associés Inc., the success of the Foundation’s Grand Bal des Vins-Coeurs was also made possible by the dedication of its co-presidents: Luc Bertrand, National Bank; W Brian Edwards, AtmanCo Inc.; Yves Gagnon, Groupe BMR Inc.; Richard Garneau, Produits forestiers Résolu; Alain Lemaire, Cascades Inc.; Richard Lord, Quincaillerie Richelieu; François Olivier, TC Transcontinental; and Lino A. Saputo, Jr., Saputo Inc.

“Through their presence, they all demonstrate the importance of supporting the Montreal Heart Institute, one of the best cardiology centres in the world, dedicated to serving the entire Quebec community; in fact, two-thirds of all patients come from outside the Montreal area,” added Mr. Rousseau.
