Dr. Cogan has been an active member of the Department of Anesthesiology at the Montreal Heart Institute since 2003 and is the Director of the Postoperative Analgesia Service.
After earning her medical degree in 1994 from McMaster University, she received specialty certification in anesthesiology in 1999. She did complementary training in obstetrical anesthesia in 2000. She passed her perioperative transesophageal echocardiography exam and received her Testamur from the National Board of Echocardiography in 2008.
A clinical assistant professor at Université de Montréal, Dr. Cogan fully participates in clinical, teaching, research and administrative activities in the Department of Anesthesiology. Her interests are in perioperative transesophageal echocardiography, aortic valve surgery, the relief of perioperative pain as well as chronic pain after cardiac surgery. She contributed greatly to the implementation of the #Postoperative Analgesia Service# and to the organization of the Chronic Cardiac Pain Analgesia Service.
