Cardiovascular prevention
The prevention and rehabilitation service brings together cardiologists, internists, family physicians, nurses, kinesiologists, nutritionists and various consultants. Located at the ÉPIC Centre, the service features the most modern facilities, including two gymnasiums, a weight room, a semi-olympic pool, three treadmills, a VO2 max (Jaegger), an ergocycle with electronic braking system and a cold room for stress tests. The prevention and rehabilitation team also runs a very active research program.
The service offers a one- or two-year fellowship. Fellows take part in all of the service's activities, including research and the dissemination of prevention knowledge. They are also expected to be available for on-call duty in general cardiology at the hospital.
To obtain funding, candidates are advised to apply for grants from recognized agencies. The Department of medicine at the MHI offers scholarships; however, a limited number of scholarships are available and they are awarded on a competitive basis.

- Candidates who have previously completed cardiology training.
- Successfully completed USMLE step 2 or LMCC examination (exemptions from these examinations are possible if candidates are recommended by the dean of the faculty of medicine where specialty training was completed).
