Infection Prevention and Control

Nosocomial infections-or hospital-acquired infections-are a major cause of complications in the health care system, underscoring the importance of implementing a structured infection prevention and control programme. This programme depends mainly on the daily work of the infection control team and the support of the microbiologists.

The team's priorities are:

  • Planning, development, implementation and evaluation of the infection control program
  • Monitoring nosocomial infections, data collection and statistical reports
  • Implementation of infectious disease control measures
  • Implementation of infection control policies and standards
  • Development of infection prevention and control strategies
  • Education of staff and physicians
  • Guidance for colleagues and the multidisciplinary team
  • Collaboration with the community network
  • Active participation within the infection control committee, which meets on a regular basis.
