Diet and nutrition

The Food Services and Clinical Nutrition Department provides a balanced diet that is adapted to your heart condition and that is low in fat and sodium. Some exams require that you be on a caffeine-restricted diet. You will receive caffeine-free foods and drinks depending on the care unit where you are hospitalized. If you receive food items as a gift, please make sure that they meet your nutritional needs.

Please note that snacks are not given out during the day, except to diabetic patients.

You will not have to fill out menu forms during your stay. To get the daily menus in advance, call extension 7777. If you have allergies or food intolerances or if any foods are contraindicated because of your medication or health condition, please advise your nurse as soon as possible.
