Providing Spiritual Support & Accompaniment
The mission of the pastoral service is to
provide spiritual and sacramental support to the hospitalized
patients and their families or significant others.
The pastoral agent is a member of the
multidisciplinary team, and has the following
responsibilities:

Visiting the patients and identifying their
needs

Offering spiritual accompaniment and moral support
to the patients, their families or their loved ones

Ensuring the availability of resources to meet the
patients' religious needs, including the preparation and the
reception of the sacraments or other religious acts

Taking part in the development, implementation and
evaluation of the intervention plan, within the
multidisciplinary team

Organizing or participating in pastoral
activities

Collaborating on ethical questions

Ensuring the connection with various religious
denominations

Ensuring pastoral service volunteers' activities,
training and supervision
-
Providing on-call service for emergency
needs
-
Contributing to the evaluation and the improvement
of the quality of care and services
