Profile

An active member of the Montreal Heart Institute (MHI) Research Centre since 2008, Philippe Comtois is also a research assistant professor in the Department of Physiology and the Institut de génie biomédical at Université de Montréal.

He has degrees in engineering physics (BEng, École Polytechnique, 1996) and biomedical engineering (MScA École Polytechnique, 1999; PhD, Université de Montréal, 2004). Thanks to training at Case Western Reserve University (Cleveland, Ohio) and a postdoctoral fellowship that he did jointly at McGill University and the MHI, he honed his expertise in optical imaging and cardiac electrophysiology. The author of many scientific publications and book chapters, Philippe Comtois' research interests include heart arrhythmias, cardiac tissue engineering, mathematical modeling, image and signal processing, and the development of biomedical instruments. His list of publications includes over 29 articles, 60 presentation abstracts and 3 book chapters.
