Dr. Paul David: a Trailblazer
|
Dr. Paul David thus succeeded in giving Montréal, Québec and Canada a model cardiology institution.
Born in 1919, Paul David studied medicine at the Université de Montréal, graduating in 1944. During his residency at Hôpital Notre-Dame he was encouraged to specialize in cardiology. He subsequently spent a year in Boston studying under renowned cardiologist Paul Dudley White.
The following year he studied under Pierre Soulié and Jean Lenègre, eminent professors at the Hôpital Lariboisière in Paris. In 1947, he returned to Montréal and began putting to good use the exceptional training he had received in the U.S. and France.

It is not surprising that today, decades later, the Montréal Heart Institute occupies a unique niche, uniting the traditions of American and French cardiology. The MHI's philosophy, open to the world, can be traced back to its origins.
