On the Way to a Smoke-Free Lifestyle

At the Montreal Heart Institute, we offer support to hospitalized smokers. A nurse specializing in smoking cessation meets them individually in their rooms.

If a patient is not ready to stop smoking, the nurse will encourage him/her to think about the importance of quitting. He/she will also recommend medication to reduce the discomfort caused by the absence of nicotine during hospitalization.

If a patient is not ready to stop smoking, the nurse offers to help him/her think ahead and recommends medication to double his/her chances of success.
