Partners in research
During 2002, the Montreal Heart Institute Research Fund (MHIRF) provided 8% of the Research Centre's funding. During the same period, the Fonds de recherche en santé du Québec provided an average 4% of the Centre's funding under its Research Centre program and another 3% under its development program.
Other funding agencies met 34% of the Research Centre's needs; these organizations include the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute (USA), the Fondation des maladies du coeur du Québec, the Canadian Institutes for Health Research, the National Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada and the Canadian Diabetes Association. Finally, industry met about 51% of the Research Centre's needs.
