The Centre block consists of forty-two beds for
general and intermediate cardiac care. 39 of these beds
are for patients with cardiac diseases and 3 beds are reserved
for electrophysiology patients. This unit offers non-invasive
cardiac monitoring and telemetry. The centre
represents a training unit for student nurse-pratitioners
specialized in cardiology as well as for medical and nursing
students.
The East unit has 21 beds, 5 of which are for
intensive care. This unit offers complete non-invasive monitoring
capabilities and hemodialysis therapy. This is a teaching unit
and multidisciplinary internships for the cardiology training
program, and it is also a compulsory training unit for senior
residents and fellows.
The specialized medical care units fit well into the
Montreal Heart Institute's mission; our patient services are
based on the core values of listening, respect and
cooperation. In partnership with various health
professionals, the nursing staff is committed to offering a
superior quality of care and services, based on the best
principles of practice. The health care professionals also work
with our network partners to ensure the continuity of care and
services to our patients and families.
