Department of medicine

Members of the Department of Medicine at the Montréal Heart Institute play a key role in all aspects of the Institute's mission. This mission consists of providing the best care, advancing cardiology research, participating in teaching, contributing to the prevention and rehabilitation of cardiovascular diseases, and developing new technologies.

The Department of Medicine includes 52 full-time members, 48 of whom are physicians with privileges as active members of the Council of Physicians, Dentists and Pharmacists (CPDP) and four Ph.D.'s who work at the Research Centre as independent researchers. Among the 48 physicians, 42 are cardiologists, two are specialists in internal medicine and four are specialists in emergency medicine. The Department also has 31 physicians who are associate members and four advisory members who act as consultants in various specialities.
