Quality Improvement Programme
The goal of this programme is to express the
Montreal Heart Institute's (MHI) commitment to continuous quality
improvement based on a client-focused approach.
The resulting philosophy focuses on the quality and
security of the care and services provided by competent and
caring health care professionals, on the needs and expectations
of our clients as well as on the respect of our clients'
rights. The client-focused approach also translates
into quality relationships that develop between the health care
providers, the patients, the families or any significant others
who are present during the patient's time at the MHI. This
applies to all staff and professionals working at the MHI,
regardless of their professions or functions.
The principles of this program originate from the
Canadian Council on Health Services Accreditation (CCHSA)
standards and criteria and from the Act Respecting Health
Services and Social Services. They contribute, notably, to the
development of a culture of patient safety and of quality care
and services, the mechanisms supporting and encouraging the staff
in their continuous quality improvement efforts, as well as the
integration of patients' needs and expectations in the daily
activities of the institution.
