MHI researchers began making a distinguished
contribution in the first years of the Institute's
existence.
Those researchers were among the pioneers, Dr. Paul David's
companions, the builders of the MHI. They founded a tradition of
research excellence, which has been proudly upheld over the years.
For example, Dr. Martial G. Bourassa, Dr. Lucien Campeau and
Dr. Jacques Lespérance were part of the team that won
the prestigious Prix Jean Lenègre in 1973, awarded by a
French scientific panel to a French-language researcher or research
team for groundbreaking work in cardiology. This was an award of
which Dr. David was particularly proud.
