Adult Congenital Heart Disease

The Université de Montréal's Adult Congenital Heart Centre is located at the Montreal Heart Institute. More than 1,900 adults with a congenital heart disease are followed at the Centre. The team at the centre includes three cardiologist-echocardiographers with one having full training in MRI, two cardiologists specialized in interventional cardiology, one cardiologist-electrophysiologist, one pediatric cardiologist, one cardiac surgeon, one nurse clinician, one research nurse, one secretary and various consultants in related fields.

The Adult Congenital Heart Centre offers two types of one-year fellowship (clinical with echocardiography option or clinical with interventional cardiology option) to cardiologists from Quebec, Canada and abroad who wish to develop an expertise in this field. Fellows are fully integrated into the service's activities. They are also expected to be available for on-call duty in general cardiology at the hospital.

To obtain funding, candidates are advised to apply for grants from recognized agencies. The department of medicine at the MHI offers scholarships; however, a limited number of scholarships are available and they are awarded on a competitive basis.
